7/3/19 "Those Who Wish Me Dead" starring Angelina Jolie wraps shooting in New Mexico - Albuquerque Business First

The movie "Those Who Wish Me Dead," starring Angelina Jolie, wrapped up preliminary shooting in New Mexico, according to New Mexico Film Office Director Todd Christensen.

The production was shot in Santa Clara Pueblo and in Bernalillo, Torrance, Sandoval and Rio Arriba counties. The production employed more than 675 New Mexicans as part of its cast and crew. It shot in New Mexico for 41 days between the end of May and the first of July, said Gregg Brilliant, the unit publicist for the production.

The film is directed by Taylor Sheridan and produced by Film Rites and BRON Studios. BRON Studios is an international media company that has been a part of more than 60 productions.

"In our story the setting itself is a character, and once we started scouting our locations — from the Santa Clara Pueblo to the Jemez Mountains and the wooded foothills of the Manzanos — we knew that New Mexico would provide the rugged scope that this story demands,” said Sheridan.

The production also stars Nicholas Hoult, Jon Bernthal, Tyler Perry, Aidan Gillen, Medina Senghore and Jake Weber.

The production is financed by Creative Wealth Media and New Line Cinema. Warner Bros. Pictures is tasked with handling marketing and distribution.

In March, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed into law a bill that doubled the tax credit capacity for the New Mexico television and film industry from $50 million to $110 million. The tax credit allows up to 25% of reimbursement of preauthorized fees paid by the film industry.

Last month, Business First reported on New Mexico welcoming NBCUniversal to Albuquerque, as they plan to set up shop for the next decade. NBCUniversal said it expects to spend hundreds of millions in direct production costs in the state and provide more than 330 full-time jobs that will average $60,000 annually.
